Many people have taken the first step and joined a gym in order to increase their physical activity. The problem is what do they do when they get there. From here people tend to fall into two categories, those that attend and those that don't. Often if people don't attend it's because they have not set goals and have therefore lost motivation.
The second category is where people carry-on doggedly at the gym but with no proper structure. This second category of person tends to go and do the same routine of exercises but doesn't progress, a bit like being stuck in an "exercise rut".
At W Fitness we have developed various Personal Training programmes at our Boutique Gymnasiums that fill the gap between joining a gym and attaining optimal fitness. Each Personal Training programme consists of a 5 step process aimed at maximising the efficiency of your programme. We call it The W Fitness 5Alive PT Plan.
Step 1. Initial Screening and Fitness Test
The programme starts with some fitness tests to establish your current health status and fitness level. These tests range from taking your blood pressure, measuring your flexibility, body fat and muscle strength to more in-depth analyses such as postural assessments and metabolic typing. The results enable us to establish your current level of fitness and serves as your bench mark measurements upon which improvement is measured.
Step 2. Dietary Analysis
We feel it is important to take a holistic approach to fitness and therefore recommend that you supplement each programme with a dietary assessment with one of our Sports Dieticians. Rather than giving a strict diet, the dietician aims to educate you in the area of healthy eating and Nutrition and will provide you with a healthy and balanced eating plan, in anticipation of the programme to follow. (Please note that this is extra to the programme but highly recommended)
Step 3. Goal Setting
This is a vital component of the program and really determines the level of success. Goals can vary enormously from person to person but once you are committed we will give you the tools in order to achieve.
Step 4. Personal Training Sessions
These can be held at one of our Boutique Gymnasiums or at a space that suits you. This time is spent with one of our exercise scientists who puts you through your paces for the session. The exercise scientist will then also elaborate on your weekly training sessions and discuss any problems that may have come up. All sessions are individualised and we make use of the latest heart rate monitoring techniques. Some programmes include use of our Gymnasiums for the full duration of the programme and we recommend that you make use of this opportunity.
Step 5. Final Consultation
In the final consultation we will discuss the programme that has been fulfilled and measure success against the goals set and initial testing results. You then have the opportunity to embark on a new programme starting with setting new goals.
